Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
