It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
